Schalast advises Viride on its seed financing

Viride was advised on its successful seed financing by a Schalast team led by VC partner Dr. Marc-André Rousseau. The signing took place on Thursday, June 27th. Following the completion of the seed financing round, Viride has a post-money valuation of over 6 million euros.

Viride is a climate-tech start-up, specializing in algae production. Its vision is based on the conviction that microalgae are a megatrend to solve the big problems of our time: For the climate, because algae capture large amounts of CO2 through their constant growth. For nutrition, because they contain valuable plant-based proteins and fats as well as many vital elements. At the same time, they do not compete for habitat and arable land. Viride fosters these advantages by growing algae in large, open saltwater basins in desert regions near the sea, where nothing else grows.

As Stefan Schmid, co-founder, points out: “For us, working with Schalast was very valuable. Simon Waldbröl and the finance team were extremely quick and pragmatic in setting up alternative loan structures for our pre-seed phase. And now, we could benefit from Dr. Marc-André Rousseau and his profound VC experience and network to successfully realize our seed financing.”
